The Kentucky Wildcats won the National Title game on Monday night versus the Kansas Jayhawks. Kentucky won the game 67-59 and had the lead almost wire to wire. Kentucky were the favorites from the beginning of the tourney to come home with the title and they completed the task but let’s give props to the man who molded this team into cohesive bunch, John Calipari.
Coach Cal finally staked claim to his first National title, which has been a long journey for him. Coach Cal has made the Final Four, 4 times(with UMass, Memphis and (2)Kentucky) and made it to the National Title game once before with the Memphis Tigers in 08 losing to the same school he defeated on Monday.
Coach Cal has always been known as a great recruiter and coach but has never won the big one, until this year. He stated that the title didn’t make or break his legacy but we all know he has to be the happiest man in the world after finally getting that monkey off of his back. He just isn’t the coach who is the king of having one and done kids anymore, fewer people will be likely to bring up his past encounters with UMass and Memphis where he had top-notch recruits but didn’t get the job done and left both schools in some sort of NCAA trouble once he departed.
Coach Cal is a very honest coach, which is a trait a like about him because he doesn’t lie to his players and gives them constructive advice. A lot of critics hate on him because of how he always gets top-notch recruits and most of his recruits only stay one year but now that he has captured the title there isn’t much people can say bad about him right now. Enjoy title Coach Cal, congrats on a great season we know as long as you are there your Wildcats will make noise during march madness.
